Two people sitting in a room, at the same table, having the same meal at the same time, can actually be worlds apart. How? Because they look at the world through a different lens, and may be disconnected from the moment, or even one another.
In the most literal sense, glasses serve to correct problems with our physical eyesight. However, the same glasses if made incorrectly, or incorrectly prescribed, will cause their own distortions.
The analogy of looking at life through rose-coloured, bleak or clear glasses has reminded me that life is not consistently as it seems to be. We are inclined to be shaped by our encounters and can have a tendency to hurry over life, as we are so busy with all the things we have going on these days. Some days, life simply passes us by, or we feel wronged, or a victim, or our observation of life has composed us become harden, and judgmental of everybody and everything around us.
We live in some challenging times right now. It can seem a world of hate, worries and aggravation, perhaps more so now than ever before. But is this a true reflection of the reality?
Over the remainder of the festive time, and as we move into the new year, let us try to focus on putting differences aside, keeping opinions to ourselves, redirecting our focus on how we can help others and adding our own way in making the world a bit brighter, and a lot more peaceful. 💕
Try this initially over this season of giving, being mindful of thoughts, emotions, words spoken and action. As greater focus is given to a more harmonious way forward, become aware of how much better you feel; it’s rather wonderful! Life is too short as it is, so use your time wisely – and with kindness.
Remember, things aren’t always as they appear to be in the moment, and sometimes it’s better to take a step back rather than react. Perhaps take some space, get out in nature or spend time where and with whom brings calm to your mind – and fresh perspective.
The lens you view life through is one that will impact your thoughts, emotions, actions and consequences. Make sure the lens you choose is one that’s helps, not hinders you – and if it’s not right, change it out!
Wishing you all the very best for 2023, one with good health and happiness. 🌟
